Gilda Scammell is one of Sedgefield’s best known philanthropists whose success with her ongoing projects pays tribute to her selfless dedication to helping others.
Now this seemingly tireless lady and her team are offering a ray of hope to another needy group of people - those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Gilda says that she had prayed about this terrible need for some time, and was answered quite clearly by God. And so the vision of The Living Cornerstone (TLC) was born. Twenty residents and thirty four care giver's later, now consists of three residential homes for Alzheimer sufferer's. Already there is a long waiting list, so three residential houses is nowhere near enough.
Gilda dreams of a huge farm-style community village of cottages, which will provide a self-sufficient and a loving homely secure environment for all - irrespective of race, colour or creed. The only language being love, hope, dignity and power.
