About

The Living Cornerstone - Sedgefield is a Non-Profit organization that cares for frail Dementia patients in a well established home.

Who We Are

The Living Cornerstone was established in 2013 as a result of a need that was identified regarding caring for patients diagnosed with dementia.

Caring for these patients is a challenge to someone who is not trained to do so. You need a special person to do so.

The Living Cornerstone -Sedgefield is a non-profit organization that cares for frail Dementia patients in a well-established home.
Patients receive 24/7 care from trained carers and registered nurses. Three home-cooked meals are served during the day and snacks and tea/coffee is also served during the course of the day. The food is prepared on-site.

We rely on donations and income generated from our fundraising activities to ensure that we can upgrade our facility on a regular basis.

We also offer home-based care, where the carers are placed in the homes of patients.

Our registration numbers are:
NPO 169-778 and PBO 930038731.

Caring is our passion

Caring is not a skill that is learned, it is something you are born with.

Dementia is a debilitating disease for the sufferer as well as the family and caregiver. Dementia has different forms, some of the most common ones being: Alzheimer’s, Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body Disease, Frontotemporal Dementia, and Alcohol-related Dementia.

It is not easy to accept that your loved one will be there in body but not in mind. It is hard to think that someone you have known all your life will eventually not know who you are.

The Living Cornerstone is there to help one cope with the inevitable, to lighten the load, and to provide a secure environment where sufferers are cared for in a loving homely atmosphere, a real home-away-from-home ambiance.
